How to Confirm Your Coverage Extends to Rentals
Call your insurance provider before you book and ask: “Does my full-coverage policy extend to rental vehicles, including off-road or beach driving use?” Get the answer in writing if possible. If the answer is yes, you are covered. If not, see the options below.
Does Credit Card Rental Coverage Work?
Some premium credit cards offer rental car collision coverage as a cardholder benefit. However, credit card rental coverage comes with important limitations:
- Most credit card rental policies are secondary coverage — your personal auto insurance must pay first
- Many policies exclude off-road and beach driving use
- Coverage limits may not match the replacement value of our 4WD vehicles
- You must charge the full rental to the qualifying card for coverage to apply

What If You Don’t Have Full-Coverage Insurance?
If your current auto policy does not include full coverage, or if your coverage does not extend to rental vehicles, you have options:

What You Need at Pickup
When you arrive at Norfolk International Airport to pick up your Jeep rental, have the following ready:
- Valid driver’s license

- The credit or debit card used to book the reservation
You will be asked to upload proof of insurance before your rental period begins. A link is sent in your booking confirmation email.

Many traditional rental car agencies sell daily insurance add-ons at the counter. ORF Jeep Rental is a specialty beach-driving vehicle rental operated by Beach 4×4 LLC — not a traditional rental car agency. Our vehicles are purpose-built for off-road and beach driving on the Outer Banks. We require renters to carry their own full-coverage personal auto insurance rather than offering daily add-on policies, which often have gaps in off-road or beach driving coverage.
This is standard practice for specialty 4WD and off-road rental operators. It ensures you arrive protected by a policy you understand, before you ever put the Jeep in 4WD and drive onto the sand.
