The fleet
Every vehicle is genuine 4WD and contractually approved for beach driving — that permission is written into the rental agreement, not a loophole. Every one is prepped before your arrival: tires checked, gauge and air compressor aboard, both beach permits already on the glass. Same price whichever one you take, plus tax — pick your dates and the booking form shows the total. Which one you take comes down to seats and what you are hauling, so here is what each is good for. We book by size, not by a specific vehicle: if one is in for repairs you may end up in a different 4x4 that seats the same, at the same price. Two-day minimum, 150 miles a day included, and the day rate drops on longer trips.

Jeep Gladiator
The Gladiator is the crew-cab pickup of the fleet — a full back seat plus an open bed for coolers, boards and beach chairs that you would rather not have inside the cabin. Every 4x4 in the fleet also carries a 2-inch receiver hitch, so rod racks and cooler carriers bolt straight on.

Jeep Wrangler
The Wrangler is the one most people picture when they imagine driving on the Outer Banks. Short wheelbase, excellent breakover, and a roof that comes off if you want it to. One of ours is a plug-in hybrid — it drives like any other Wrangler and you never have to plug it in.

Infiniti QX80
A full-size luxury SUV for groups who want the sand access without giving up the quiet ride for the week. Third row, real 4WD, and enough luggage space for a week of beach gear.

Nissan Armada
The biggest people-mover in the fleet. Three rows on a full-size 4WD platform, which makes it the usual pick for two families traveling together or anyone arriving with a lot of luggage.
